National Semiconductor Introduces Tiny System Power Management IC with Digital Control for Portable Systems
February 15, 2006 - National Semiconductor Corporation (NYSE:NSM) today introduced a system power management IC with digitally controlled sequencing. Packaged in a very small leadless leadframe package (LLP®), the LP3927 is well-suited for cellular and PCS handsets as well as other portable systems that require intelligent power management.
The LP3927 contains five low-dropout linear regulators (LDOs), a reset timer, power-up control logic, a general-purpose open drain output that can be used to light LEDs and a CMOS rail-to-rail input/output operational amplifier. Each LDO features an extremely low dropout voltage of 100 mV at maximum load current. The maximum load current supported by the LDOs ranges from 100 mA to 200 mA. All the linear regulators are optimized for use with sensitive analog and RF loads that need low noise and high power supply rejection.
Key features for the LP3927 include:
About National’s Power Management Products
National Semiconductor is the number one supplier of power management ICs with 14.1 percent market share, according to iSuppli’s 2005 voltage regulator/reference survey. National’s power management revenue grew 37.3 percent in 2004 over the previous year, compared to 24 percent growth for the industry. National's innovative power management products include best-in-class linear regulators; power monitoring, control and reference ICs; and switching converters, such as high-voltage ICs for DC-DC conversion, switched capacitor converters, lighting management ICs and inductive switching converters. National also offers online tools that enable power designers to select the best power management chips for their applications. National's WEBENCH® design tool allows designers to choose a product, create and analyze a design, and then build custom prototypes that can be delivered within 24 hours.
Packaging, Pricing and Availability
National’s LP3927 is available now and packaged in a 28-pin LLP. The LP3927 costs $2.04 in quantities of 1,000. Lead-free package options are also available.
