New 12-bit High Resolution A/D MCU Product Release --- HT46R51A/52A/53A/54A

The four new additions to the Holtek range of 8-bit General Purpose A/D type MCUs, in the form of the HT46R51A/52A/53A/54A, provide the user similar functions of the devices they replace, namely the HT46R51/52/53/54, but with the enhanced features of larger Data Memory capacity. With similar Program Memory capacity with their predecessors but increased Data Memory capacity, ranging from 96 bytes to 280 bytes, the devices all include an 8-bit timer and an external interrupt function which allows external signal activation. All devices also possess a 12-bit Analog to Digital Converter along with a PWM converter output. According to the device the internal A/D converter will have either 5 or 8 input channels and relies on an external voltage for its reference source, providing a means for increased precision. The number of available I/O pins is either 14 or 22, again depending upon which device is selected. The inclusion of a Programmable Frequency Divider, PFD, internal function enables audio frequencies to be generated on an external output pin for applications such as reminder or alarm signals. These devices contain many of the features found in other Holtek MCU devices such as excellent noise rejection capabilities, which when combined with their internal Watchdog function and Low Voltage Reset functions provide designers with a range of powerful devices with many protective features.

The internal 12-bit A/D converter and PWM function, in eliminating the need for these external functions in applications such as battery chargers, reduce product costs, simplify manufacture, increase reliability and reduce inventory costs. In addition to the battery charger application area, the devices are well suited for application areas such as automotive peripheral products and household electrical appliances.

The HT46R51A and HT46R52A are available in both 18-pin DIP and 20-pin SOP and SSOP package types while the HT46R53A and HT46R54A are available in 28-pin SKDIP and 28-pin SOP package types.
