GCT Semiconductor and ASUS Demonstrate Notebooks with Built-in Mobile WiMAX Capability at WiMAX Expo Taipei

ASUS' Notebooks Integrate GCT's GDM7205 - The Industry's First Mobile WiMAX IEEE 802.16e Wave 2 Compliant 2.5 GHz Monolithic Single-chip Solution - Enabling Extensive Connectivity, Dynamic Data Transfer and Longer Battery Life.

TAIPEI, TAIWAN, June 2, 2008 - GCT Semiconductor, a leading supplier of Mobile WiMAX solutions to the global market, today announced that ASUS, a worldwide leader in component and notebook design and manufacturing, has integrated GCT's GDM7205 WiMAX single-chip integrated circuit into the ASUS F8 notebook series and EeePC. ASUS' F8 notebook series offers mobile multimedia for revolutionary entertainment on-the-go. The EeePC is a new line of mobile internet devices (MIDs) providing users with comprehensive internet applications based on three Es - easy to learn, easy to work and easy to play.

GCT and ASUS will demonstrate these notebooks at ASUS' Booth S9-3, at WiMAX Expo Taipei, held at the Taipei World Trade Center in Hall 2, June 2-6, 2008. GCT will demonstrate its advanced and highly integrated WiMAX capabilities, including GDM7205, at Booth C2-3.

Based on GCT's industry-proven CMOS RF technologies, GDM7205 implements MIMO, and all PHY and MAC features required for WiMAX ForumTM Wave 2 Certification. This compact solution, which is in mass production, contains a highly integrated, low-power transceiver which minimizes the number of external RF front-end components. It also includes a mobile WiMAX baseband with high performance dual-processors, and an impressive array of peripherals for connectivity.
