May 30, 2008. O2Micro® International Limited (NASDAQ®: OIIM; SEHK: 0457), a leading supplier of innovative power management and security components and systems, was issued 5 claims under United States patent number 7,340,621 for its Power Conservation Techniques for a digital computer.
O2Micro's patented power conservation method enables a desktop or portable computer user to access digital content such as movies and music on the computer system, during extremely low power states. The details of the invention pertain to the subsystems necessary to render audio and video information, such as DRAM access. With the implementation of O2Micro’s enhanced architecture, services that would otherwise be unavailable in low power states can be accessed.
"The advanced architecture patented here has increased significance with global focus on energy conservation," explained, Max Huang, executive vice president, O2Micro. Mr. Huang added, "This conservation leads to real user benefits such as prolonged times between recharging the battery and a smaller battery size."
