NXP, the independent semiconductor company founded by Philips, today announced the appointment of Anthony (Tony) Sabetti as the senior director for business development, strategy and marketing for the identification (ID) business in North America.

With a focus on further developing US ID business opportunities, Tony will work closely with influencers and stakeholders for the various ID ecosystems. Markets include Near Field Communication (NFC), contactless payments, MIFARE smart card technology, Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) and eGovernment. Working together with ID customers, system integrators, service providers and implementers Tony will drive the development, penetration and commercialization of these advanced technologies.

“We are excited to have Tony join our ID sales and marketing team,” said Steve Owen, vice president sales & marketing, Identification, NXP Semiconductors. “His industry expertise paired with his knowledge and focus on the US region will ensure NXP further establishes itself as the number one provider of ID solutions.”

Prior to his current position, Tony Sabetti was the vice president of RF Solutions at Sirit Inc and was responsible for several vertical markets, including the emerging supply market. Before joining Sirit Tony spent over 20 years in Texas Instruments in various strategy and marketing positions, ultimately leading the development and launch of TI’s UHF products as the director of retail supply chain solutions.
