Free webinar on REACH

On Friday, July 13, at 11 a.m. PDT, Design Chain Associates (DCA), a San Francisco firm that helps companies with environmental compliance, will hold a free webinar on the European Union’s (EU) Registration, Evaluation, and Authorization of Chemicals (REACH). The webinar is targeted to the needs of North American manufacturers.

REACH is a massive and unique law that takes a very different approach to regulation of chemical substances and mixtures (preparations) sold by themselves and as part of products in the EU. Article manufacturers in electronics, textiles, automotive, aerospace and other industries will need to assess which aspects of REACH directly impact them. They also have to understand the risks that currently (and will) exist within their supply chains.

The webinar will offer a presentation by Robert Donkers, Environmental Counselor and a member of the Delegation of the EU to the United States. He was one of the original authors of the REACH proposal. He will look at the basics of the law with a focus on pre-registration issues for non-EU-based companies. Michael Kirschner, president of DCA, will cover specific issues for article manufacturers such as concepts of “intentionally released” disclosure of substances in articles and scenarios of supply chain risk.
