The Chinese Ministry of Information Industry has released three key standards that further define the upcoming China RoHS. Unfortunately they are currently only available in print, in Chinese. Design Chain Associates in San Francisco will soon post translations of the standards in English at its China RoHS site.
The European Lead-Free Soldering Network (ELFNET) reports the China RoHS standards include:
SJ/T 11363-2006 “Requirements for Concentration Limits for Certain Hazardous Substances in Electronic Information Products”
SJ/T 11364-2006 “Marking for the Control of Pollution Caused by Electronic Information Products”
SJ/T 11365-2006 “Testing Methods for Regulated Substances in Electronic Information Products”
ELFNT notes there is a recent version of a guidance document for the “Environment-Friendly Use Period” that will need to be defined for each product.
ELFNET also notes that the Korean government has confirmed that its RoHS-like legislation should be passed this year with a target date of January 1, 2008.
