David Towne, director of engineering technologies and services at Sun Microsystems will speak at a full-day workshop, Efficient and Profitable Paths to Environmental Compliance, which will be presented by Technology Forecasters Inc. (TFI) in conjunction with Goodbye Chain’s Harvey Stone in San Diego on February 1.
TFI’s latest benchmarking study reveals that OEMs rate themselves average at best in environmental compliance. The workshop is designed to help electronics companies “raise their grade.” The workshop will be held at the SMS Technologies corporate headquarters. The workshop intends to keep managers and designers current with (or ahead of) environmental requirements in all product types. The presentation will also address ways to reduce costs and risk, increase innovation and competitiveness while gaining higher employee motivation and productivity in the area of compliance.
Sun’s Towne leads the company’s corporate-wide RoHS Program Management Office which was responsible for Sun’s successful implementation of compliance with the European Union’s RoHS directive. He is currently engaged on implementation of activities to ensure Sun’s compliance with the China RoHS requirements and future environmental requirements.
