According to new research from Chicago-based component distributor, Newark InOne, 30 percent of the design engineers and component buyers do not expect RoHS to have an impact on their company over the next 12 months. The survey of 914 readers of EDN and Purchasing magazine also showed that engineers and buyers named component distributors and manufacturers as their top resources for assistance through the conversion to environmentally compliant products.
According to Paul Tallentire, Newark InOne’s president, a good portion of the professionals queried didn’t see that environmental laws affect all corners of the electronics industry. “RoHS does impact everyone who makes, uses of buy electronic components,” says Tallentire. “At a minimum, companies must deal with a record number of parts becoming obsolete.”
